Electronic Traction Control (ETC)

How does electronic traction control work?

Traction control is the really clever part of a car’s electronic stability control system and helps limit tyres slipping when the car is accelerating. If the traction control system finds that one wheel is spinning more quickly than the others, it automatically applies the brake to that wheel, to reduce how quickly it is turning and stop it from slipping. In most cases, that is enough to control the wheel slip. However, some traction control systems also reduce the amount of power the engine sends to the slipping wheels.
