A V5C document is the official vehicle registration document that registers a car with the DVLA. All the essential information about a car – such as the date it was first registered, its manufacturer, the colour and the engine size – is included, as well as who the vehicle’s registered keeper is. When buying a used car, the seller and buyer must fill out some of the sections of the document and then send it to the DVLA, which will then issue an updated V5C to the buyer.
