The new Vauxhall Frontera 2024 replaces the Crossland, offering electric power
The Vauxhall Frontera is back after 20 years, but instead of being a 4x4 off-roader, it's a small family SUV that'll take over from the Crossland.
Available with both petrol and fully electric powertrains, and being closely related to the Citroen C3 Aircross, it's ready to take on some stiff competition.
With sleek, futuristic styling and battery technology inherited from the Stellantis range of cars, the new Frontera looks primed to make a splash in the SUV market.

Making the most of Vauxhall's new black Vizor front design, the all-new Frontera is a sleek and futuristic-looking SUV that proudly displays its Griffin badge.
James Taylor, Managing Director at Vauxhall, said: “With its combination of rugged design, spaciousness, clever solutions and efficient powertrains, our new Vauxhall Frontera will appeal to a wide range of customers who want to stand out from the crowd. It is ideally suited to the urban and sub-urban environment with a fully electric version available from launch.”
Other stand-out features include its prominent C-pillar design and black contrast roof to break up the paint.

Inside the new 2024 Frontera, it's a huge upgrade from the outgoing Crossland, taking many design cues from the new Vauxhall Astra and Corsa.
The highlight is Vaxhall's 'Pure Panel' infotainment display layout that consists of two 10-inch screens – one acting as a digital driver's display and the other as the central screen for maps, music, radio etc.
You also get a cooled wireless charging mat, USB ports as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The original Frontera was available with five seats as standard, but it's not yet confirmed whether the new one will come with a seven-seat option. The same goes for its Citroen relative.
Move to the rear and you'll find 460 litres of boot space that expands to 1,600 litres when the rear seats are folded flat. On top, its roof racks can support up to 200kg. Roof tent, anyone?
Vauxhall Frontera 2024: Engine and electric motor options

There will be two different power options for the 2024 Vauxhall Frontera: a 48V mild-hybrid petrol and a fully electric offering.
The former will produce up to 160hp and offer up to 58mpg, whereas the electric version will come with around 132hp and a 250-mile range. These figures aren't yet official but this is where we imagine the new Frontera to be placed.
This means it easily rivals the Nissan Qashqai and Dacia Duster in the small family SUV segment.
Vauxhall Frontera 2024: Prices and release date
Official prices are yet to be announced but we'd imagine the mild-hybrid petrol to cost from £27,000 and the electric Frontera to be priced from around £32,000.
A launch date is yet to go live, with Vauxhall stating it's 'coming soon'. We'd imagine it'll be ready in late 2024/early 2025.
