It's official... the last Ford Focus has rolled off the production line.
After 27 years in production and 12 million sales, Ford has closed the door on the beloved Focus to shift its attention to electric models.
Ford originally announced these plans in 2022, as it began transitioning to an all-electric lineup, and now the time has come to shut down manufacturing for new Focus models.
This news comes as the iconic Focus remains in the top 10 most searched for cars on cinch, showing consumers still hold hatchbacks in their hearts.
Ford's long-standing hatchback has effectively been replaced in its lineup by the SUV-shaped Capri and Explorer, both of which are based on the same Volkswagen platform – a partnership to help Ford's move to all-electric.
But the Focus isn't the only Ford to be axed in recent years in favour of electric, as the Fiesta went off sale in the summer of 2023. This now means Ford no longer makes new petrol hatchbacks – the smallest being the crossover Puma.
This move is in response to the bans on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 in Britain and 2035 in European markets, so the change was inevitable.

However, just because you can't buy a new Focus, it doesn't mean there aren't some superb used ones for sale. In a range of trims, engine options and no less than four generations to pick from, it won't be disappearing from our streets any time soon.
The same goes for used hatchbacks – there's no shortage of choice on the used market, even as more brands focus on crossovers and SUVs.
