Football and music fans who decide to drive to major events at Wembley Stadium this summer - including the Champions League final and Taylor Swift's Eras Tour - might have to pay up to £278 to park their car, a new study has shown.

Parking your used Audi or VW on the streets around Wembley is mostly reserved for permit holders, meaning many fans will have to look for alternative options. Local residents are discovering the benefits of renting their private driveways as a side hustle.

By analysing JustPark data around some of 2024's biggest events at Wembley Stadium, we can reveal the least and most expensive parking spaces to rent for seven hours within the surrounding area.

Sam Sheehan, our motoring editor, said: “Parking on an event day can be difficult in any location, never mind at Wembley Stadium. But some nearby residents are making some extra cash by renting a space they own: their driveways.

“With driveway parking as cheap as £1.14 an hour, this might be your solution to parking around Wembley without breaking the bank - but there's a big range in price, depending on location and event.”

Parking panic for fans

Sam added: “London can be a pricey and tricky city to park in. Whether you’re squeezing into a tight multi-storey or chancing it on the streets, finding an available space, which is legal to park in and relatively affordable, isn’t easy.

“In fact, with only 1.69 parking spaces for every 1,000 cars, your chances of finding somewhere to leave your car is less than 0.2%. Add in the fact it's an event day, with most of these spaces being reserve-only, your chances could be much slimmer.”

Wembley Stadium privately owns four multi-storey car parks – which equates to more than 3,400 parking spaces in total. However, the capacity for Wembley is 90,000. This means there’s only there’s only enough parking for approximately 4% of attendees.

This reduces even further for events such as Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, which could have up to 115,000 attendees per night – meaning only enough parking for 3% of Swifties.
