Our new data reveals that the Vauxhall Corsa, Ford Fiesta and MINI Hatchback were the top-selling cars for the second quarter of 2025 (Apr-Jun), showing that Britain’s love affair with small, practical hatchbacks shows no sign of waning.
The new data also reveals:
Chinese EV brands are making a splash, with BYD searches up 236% quarter-on-quarter
Prices of used EVs are down 2% compared to the previous quarter
The fastest-selling used car of the quarter was the DS 3
Apple CarPlay is the No.1 feature that buyers look for in a car
Hatchbacks punching above their weight
Despite the increasing popularity of SUVs - which now account for almost 40% of all ‘body type’ searches on our site - hatchbacks are still heavily in demand.
SUV favourites such as the Nissan Qashqai and Range Rover Evoque made it into the top 10 best-sellers for Q2 2025, but the top of the list was dominated by hatchbacks:

Our motoring editor, Sam Sheehan, said: “SUVs stand out on the road because of their size, but the much-loved hatchback continues to punch above its weight.
“Vauxhall’s Corsa delivers a great package for all types of drivers and comes in electric and petrol versions. Meanwhile, the Fiesta continues to attract buyers looking for a practical runaround at a low price point.”
BYD make a splash
The latest data also highlights the surging popularity of Chinese EV manufacturers such as BYD, OMODA and JAECOO.
Searches for BYD cars were up a whopping 236% in Q2 compared to the first quarter of the year.
The Shenzhen-based company recently overtook Tesla as the most-sold EV brand in Europe and has a growing number of admirers in the UK. Models such as the SEAL, DOLPHIN and ATTO 3 all deliver an affordable package of comfort, practicality and performance.
With prices of used EVs down 2% quarter-on-quarter, many buyers are deciding now is the time to go electric - particularly with an improved public charging infrastructure and company car incentives.

Speedy sellers
With long-held favourites such as the Corsa and Fiesta delivering the most sales in Q2, it was some lesser-spotted vehicles that topped the list of fastest-selling cars on our site.
DS Automobiles’ compact SUV, the DS 3, was the fastest-selling car of the quarter, followed by the budget-friendly Dacia Jogger and Fiat’s Tipo.
Sam said: “Some cars get snapped up as soon as they arrive on our virtual shelves. We like the DS 3 as it ticks most boxes for those looking for a compact SUV with an eye-catching design.”
And, on the electrified side of the fence, it was the Ford Mustang Mach-E, MG4 and Vauxhall Mokka-E that were gone in a flash.
Sam added: “Our fastest-selling used EV, the Mustang Mach-E, is a standout performer in our EV lineup. It’s a thrill to drive, has good EV range and a high-tech interior. What’s not to like?”

Out with the cold…
As cold temperatures hit the UK between Jan-Mar 2025, heated seats became the most-searched car feature on our site.
Then, with temperatures warming up from April onwards, the demand for toasty legs slowed. Apple CarPlay and parking sensors racked up more searches in the second quarter of the year.
Meanwhile, cars with sunroofs also became more popular as the weather improved, climbing from fifth most-searched feature in Q1 to fourth in Q2.
