Video - How far can an EV go on ZERO % battery?
We run a Tesla Model 3, Audi e-tron 55 quattro and Honda e until they're totally dead. Do they conk out at 0%? Not exactly...
What happens when an electric car battery goes flat? This is the question we set out to answer when we run three hot-selling EVs - the Tesla Model 3, Audi e-tron 55 quattro and Honda e - until they're totally dead. And we mean completely kaput. With claimed ranges of between 130 and 350 miles, our trio of electric cars represent three corners of the battery-powered automotive world, and not surprisingly, they all do different things when they're running low on juice.
With Rockingham as the safe and controlled test environment, cinch Motoring and Lifestyle Editor, Sam Sheehan, and Head of EVs, Abhishek Sampat, run these cars until they can't go any further to answer a question most of us wouldn't dare try and put to the test on the public highway. Naturally, things don't go as expected; we'll let you find out how by watching the video. Enjoy!
