The 10 best coupé SUVs in the UK

BMW X4

BMW X4 driving on country roadLike its 3 Series and 4 Series models, the BMW X4 is a sportier and sleeker version of the X3, making it more appealing to those hanging onto their youth one rare pair of trainers at a time.

Power comes from a petrol or diesel engine, producing between 190hp and 360hp in its regular trim, but goes up to 510hp with the X4 M Competition performance model.

It's practical for an SUV too, with a 525-litre boot and five seats which aren’t quite as spacious as an X3 but good for a coupé.

Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron

There are two different versions: the 45 and 55 quattro. Being fully electric, you get instant torque and plenty of power (up to 340hp).

Range is good too, with a claimed 351 miles on the 45 model.

Citroën C4

Citroen C4 rearCitroën’s been making some really compelling vehicles of late, and the C4 is an example of a car that’s consistently improved with every facelift.

Available as a hybrid or fully electric (dubbed the ë-C4) model, it’s a versatile car and very frugal too – 62.1mpg for the hybrid and 257 miles of range from the electric one.

It’s also got Citroën’s supple suspension, which offers a smoother and softer ride, even on the UK’s rough and ready roads.

BMW X6

A blue BMW X6 M50i modelFollowing the X5’s success, BMW decided to make an SUV coupé version of it called the X6, which instantly proved popular with footballers and cool parents.

In its standard form, it produces 298hp from its base diesel engine. Go for the sporty X6 M Competition, and this gets a frankly ridiculous 625hp.

Because of its coupé SUV design, it gets a little less boot space than the X5 (650 litres) but at 580 litres, it’s still plenty for most people.

Mercedes GLC Coupé

Mercedes GLC Coupé front three quartersThe Mercedes GLC Coupé is as stylish as the standard GLC but offers a sportier look and therefore has become the more desirable car.

It comes in a range of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants, all paired with an automatic gearbox, giving up to 300hp.

Plus, if you go for the PHEV, you can get up to 75 miles of electric-only driving.

Porsche Cayenne Coupé

Porsche is known for sports cars, so when it converted its already popular Cayenne into a coupé SUV, we knew it meant business.

Offering a sublime driving experience and one of the best interiors in the market, it’s no wonder it took off and became so popular with the elite.

Available as a hybrid or petrol, it’s got some kick to it, offering up to 739hp and a 0-62mph time of just 3.6 seconds.

Škoda Enyaq Coupé

Skoda Enyaq CoupéElectric SUVs are all the rage, and the Škoda Enyaq Coupé is an example of one done right, with a sporty body and impressive credentials.

It gets between 254 miles and 365 miles on a full charge, putting it up there with the best, plus a claimed 4.2mi/kWh efficiency.

The Enyaq Coupé is also packed full of the latest tech and benefits from Škoda’s famed practicality with 570 litres of boot space.

Volkswagen ID.5

A Volkswagen ID.5 driving on a country roadThe Volkswagen ID.5 shares its platform with the Škoda above, so you’re getting a very similar package but with that iconic VW badge on the front and different styling.

If you’re familiar with VW’s new interiors, you’ll know the ID.5 is a pleasant place to be. Even if you’re not, it’s really easy to use and intuitive.

There are a range of trims available too, giving you a wider choice.

Audi Q8

Audi Q8 frontIf it’s big SUVs you’re after, an Audi Q8 is the big boss of them all. It’s spacious, imposing and looks the part.

Rivalling Range Rover in terms of size and tech, it’s no wonder it’s one of the more desirable cars in Audi’s SUV lineup.

With a choice of petrol and diesel engines, all mated to an automatic gearbox, it’s a great buy for families and those wanting to make a statement.

Sandy Audi Q8

Renault Arkana

Renault Arkana drivingThe Renault Arkana essentially replaced the Kadjar of yesteryear, offering sportier styling and a proper coupé SUV-like look.

It’s a highly efficient car, offering up to 57.6mpg with the hybrid engine and a little less with the mild-hybrid version.

You also get almost Audi-like looks on a budget, and what family doesn’t like a bargain?
