Best seven-seater MPVs UK

If you're searching for the best MPV seven-seater, chances are you're knee-deep in school runs, football clubs and family getaways, so you'll need as much space, practicality and more importantly, versatility, as possible.

MPVs may have lost a bit of street cred to SUVs, but where they shine is in just how much interior space they can offer – they're generally more suitable for adults or taller teenagers, too, so you won't find yourself needing to upgrade as the kids get older.

From budget-friendly runarounds to the best economical seven-seater MPVs, here are six of the best used seven-seater MPVs for sale.

The best MPV 7-seater

Dacia Jogger

A dark Dacia Jogger drives on a scenic road through a hilly landscape under a partly cloudy sky.

This is honest motoring at its finest – the Dacia Jogger is a marvel of value, undercutting all of its rivals and offering seven-seat practicality for half the price you might pay for a premium alternative.

Entry-level trims offer a no-frills approach to family motoring, but you won't have to reach deep into your pockets to get luxuries like heated front seats, a touchscreen infotainment system, all-round parking sensors and keyless entry. Spend a little more on the self-charging hybrid and you could see a 10mpg improvement over the standard turbocharged petrol.

Volkswagen ID. Buzz

VW ID. Buzz exterior

Inspired heavily by the retro VW Bus (or Type 2 Transporter), the Volkswagen ID. Buzz is just one of a growing number of revived icons to be given the electric makeover, complete with one or two motors and a battery capable of over 200 miles of real-world range.

Because of its boxy shape (compared with a car), the 'Buzz' has plenty of headroom inside. Take your pick from five- or seven-seat versions, but just know that whichever you go for, you'll have plenty of boot room for all of your passengers' luggage, putting it way ahead of its car-based competitors.

Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer

A grey Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer drives on a rural road with blurred greenery in the background, showcasing motion and speed.

This one's for the comfort crowd, because the Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer is a floaty, soft-riding slide of French loveliness. You can relax in the supportive seats with smooth suspension knowing that you'll be getting great MPG figures from the highly efficient petrol and diesel engines.

We love the panoramic windscreen, which has an extendable piece to make the glass reach way over the driver's head. It's like sitting in a greenhouse (without the excessive heat), and that airy feel extends to rear-seat passengers too. If you're after something a bit cheaper, consider the Grand C4 Picasso. It's exactly the same car, but it got renamed during a mid-life facelift.

Ford Galaxy

Ford Galaxy

The Ford Galaxy has been ferrying families around since the noughties, and you'll still see these uber-practical MPVs being used as taxis across the UK today. It's big, comfy and very sensible.

Better still, the driving experience is solid. If you've driven a Ford before, you'll know that the brand's cars have accurate steering and a well-balanced suspension. Sure, the Galaxy is bigger, so it leans a bit into corners, but it still feels extremely familiar to drive. Some might say, a joy, even.

Volkswagen Touran

Volkswagen Touran driving

If you want a car that does everything well, but isn't terribly flashy, then you'll want to shortlist a Volkswagen Touran. As you'd expect, it features high-quality German engineering and a long list of standard equipment, including plenty of safety features.

Like many other seven-seater MPVs, it's no longer available to buy new, but that means you can pick up a used bargain. Take your pick from petrols or diesels, but we'd recommend pairing your Touran with the smooth-shifting DSG automatic gearbox for maximum comfort and faff-free family motoring.

BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer

A dark-coloured BMW Gran Tourer

Yes, BMW made an MPV. And yes, it's as good to drive as you'd hope. It turns the premium dial up a notch, but despite that blue and white badge and the bold kidney grille, it still doesn't scream about its credentials – of which there are many.

Take the driving experience, for example. You can really enjoy a twisty B-road in the BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer now and again. There's a seemingly endless choice of petrol and diesel engines, and you can even have BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system if you plan on taking the family skiing in the Alps.
