Which small Audi SUV is the cheapest?

There are plenty of budget small Audi SUVs on the market, but which have the best performance, tech and storage?

SUVs are massively on-trend and have been increasing in popularity as a brilliant family car.

Even if you don’t need a huge vehicle, a small SUV can be a functional and stylish choice.

There are plenty of premium cars (like a used Audi, used BMW and used Mercedes) that can be purchased as a small SUV and crossover, so you can enjoy a luxury car that sits high off the ground, is spacious and comfortable, and has that luxe edge.

For a small Audi SUV, you don’t need to overpay either. There are some budget Audi options for a small SUV that still feel undoubtedly premium.

What is the cheapest Audi SUV?

There are a few ways you can make a saving when buying an Audi SUV that aren't just limited to the model you choose.

If you currently have a car that you want to swap and replace with a small Audi SUV, it might be worth looking into part-exchanging your old car to get some money off the new one.

This is a great way to avoid the hassle of selling a used car before purchasing a new one.

You can also choose to buy a used Audi SUV to make a saving on the cost of a brand-new model.

As Audi SUVs are considered premium cars, they’re usually more expensive than other models when bought brand-new.

Choosing a used Audi can cut these costs.

Audi Q3

One of the cheapest Audi SUVs currently on the market is the Audi Q3. This is a smaller SUV that feels like a hatchback on stilts, so it isn’t a huge leap if you’re used to something smaller.

For a brand-new Q3 on the Audi website, you can expect prices to start at around £34,325.

A used 2017 model on our site can cost upwards from £16,650, or £24,750 for a used 2020 Q3, so prices will differ depending on the car you choose and what offers are on at the time.

Audi Q2

The Audi Q2 is another compact SUV option that comes in at a reasonable price tag. It’s a sleek choice with plenty of tech and some impressive engines on offer.

You can get a brand-new model for prices upwards of £31,285, with prices rising with the higher spec and trims.

A used model on our site will usually start at prices around £17,950 for a 2020 model, but these prices can change depending on the model you pick.

Audi e-tron

If you want a small SUV with electric power, the Audi e-tron is a solid choice. This one is slightly larger with a 660-litre boot, and seats five passengers in the plush cabin with no issues.

An electric SUV like the e-tron can be more expensive when purchasing as the initial cost of electric cars is usually higher.

You can save money by choosing a used car, with prices starting at around £29,950 for a 2020 model on our site.

The original e-tron has now evolved into the Q8 e-tron, so you won’t be able to pick up the original model from Audi directly.

There’s also the Audi Q4 e-tron model if you want something slightly larger that can still be purchased brand-new – although it is pricier.

Audi SUV performance

Audi SUVs are always smooth, comfortable and relaxing to drive, no matter which model you pick.

The Audi e-tron is particularly relaxing, thanks to the quiet and clean nature of electric cars.

You’ll be able to cover up to 250 miles on one full charge and can be boosted from flat to full with an at-home wall box charger in nine hours.

The e-tron also gets air suspension, which aligns with the SUV nature of the car and irons out any bumps in the road.

You’ll be able to leap from 0-62mph in 6.8 seconds, which is impressive for an SUV with all that electric car tech packed inside.

The Audi Q2 is another quality car to drive, and gives the choice of petrol and diesel engines.

These include an entry-level 1.0-litre TFSI model that will likely come in at the lower end of the price point, but it’s easy to drive and particularly comfortable on the motorway.

It will sit in a lower insurance band too, so can mean that you’ll save some money here.

There’s also a chunkier 2.0-litre TDI engine on offer if you fancy some diesel power, and a few other options in between that all have the Audi finesse.

The Q3 offering is as comfortable as it is safe to drive, with both the Q2 and Q3 models securing a five-star Euro NCAP rating on their most recent tests.

You’ll feel secure on the roads in a Q3, with the right balance of grip and balance to have you zooming down back lanes and nipping around town.

Q3 engine options include a plug-in hybrid TFSI e model for cutting back on CO2 emissions and an efficient diesel that can offer up to 56mpg.

When compared, these small Audi SUVs all perform well and feel comfortable and safe on the roads.

You might be more tempted by the e-tron if you fancy electric power, but the Q2 and Q3 are still efficient and fun to drive.

Tech features of Audi SUVs

The all-round quality and sheer volume of features in the Audi e-tron is likely enough to sway many modern motorists.

There’s a large central infotainment screen that helps navigate the car’s features, with another one below to complement this.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included for smartphone connectivity, and there are 10 speakers throughout for car karaoke.

The interior in the Audi Q2 is also impressive, with high-quality materials and a solid build throughout.

You’ll enjoy the Audi tech, featuring a satisfying combination of infotainment screen and physical knobs and switches that are easy to navigate.

In Sport trim models of the Q2, you’ll get Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, which strips out the classic dials and replaces them with a digital setup that can even show a full sat-nav behind the wheel.

The Q3 model is pretty similar to the Q2, but all trims include the Virtual Cockpit as standard. Both models also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Adding the Comfort and Sound pack in the Q3 will also mean you’ll get a rear-view camera to help with parking, and sensors at the front.

For affordable Audi SUV options, none of these models feel underwhelming on the tech front – you’ll feel suitably kitted-out whether you choose the Q2, Q3 or e-tron.

Storage and bootspace in Audi SUVs

Despite searching for a small Audi SUV, a solid bit of boot space and some handy storage is a must for most motorists.

It’s ideal that there are models that are compact but still capacious in the back.

In the Audi e-tron, your 660-litre boot can be extended even further by folding the back seats.

This is ideal for creating a multi-use car and having somewhere to pack to the brim if the occasion calls for it.

There’s also an extra storage area in the boot floor of the e-tron, plus a dedicated spot for tucking away your charging cables in the bonnet.

The Q2 offers a spacious 405-litre boot that can also increase by dropping the rear seats. In fact, you can get as much as 1,050 litres back there at full capacity.

Audi Q8 boot

The Audi Q3 SUV provides a 530-litre boot that rivals models like the BMW X1, and can be extended to 675 litres just by pushing the seats forward.

Drop the rear seats entirely and you’ll have a full 1,525-litre loading space at the rear.

All Audi SUV models get plenty of storage space throughout, too. Cupholders, large door bins and the handy glove box all make these a practical choice.
