Citroën C4 boot space

The Citroën C4 is a stylish and practical SUV/coupé crossover, but how much boot space does it offer?

“Nothing Moves Us Like Citroën.” That’s the Citroën tagline, but do its cars live up to its bold statement? And when it comes to the C4, is the boot any good?

There are plenty of used Citroen models on the market, including C4 options for cheaper than brand-new. See if it suits you when it comes to space.

What are the Citroën C4 boot dimensions?

  • Maximum luggage capacity (seats up): 380 litres

  • Maximum luggage capacity (seats down): 1,250 litres

  • Maximum boot width: 1,050mm

How big is a Citroën C4 boot?

For an SUV/coupé crossover, the C4 has a generous amount of space in the boot. There’s plenty of room for everything from the big weekly shop to luggage for a long weekend away.

A recent survey revealed 73% of UK adults are now more likely to opt for ‘staycations’ over holidays abroad. If you’re using your C4 in this situation, an ample-sized boot is a must.

You always have the option of expanding the available space by lowering the rear seats, so picking up some new furniture or taking old stuff to the tip in your used Citroën C4 is made even easier!

To fold the seats forward, a lot of cars require you to open the rear doors and fiddle with a handle. Not so with the C4 – just pull a lever in the boot and, bingo, down they go.

The C4’s boot space makes it a fantastic option for families, as there’s more than enough room to fit a folded buggy – no more family days out with your toddler stuck to your hip or awkwardly clinging to your hand! You can also lower the boot floor if you need additional space.

More about the Citroën C4

Citroën has become a brand closely associated with building cars that are convenient and practical without sacrificing design flair. The C4 is no exception, with the standout modern crossover aesthetic mixed with the best bits of an SUV and a coupé.

First introduced in 2004, the C4’s third generation was launched in 2020. This iteration saw Citroën ditch the old hatchback/saloon body in favour of gearing it up to be a coupé SUV.

Its closest rivals are the Volkswagen Golf and the Ford Focus. Despite looking smaller, the C4 is actually larger than both. When it comes to looks, it’s much sleeker than its rivals, featuring a wraparound windscreen and a more aerodynamic aesthetic.

Sitting behind the wheel of the C4 means you’re in for a comfortable drive, so if comfort is your priority, look no further. You sink into the seats, while hydraulic dampers installed on the car make bumps in the road a thing of the past.

There’s also a touch of quality to the C4’s interior, which is nicely kitted out and well put together.

While it’s geared towards being a more comfortable drive, it’s still surprisingly nippy. The 153bhp version goes from 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds, with a top speed of 129mph.

How many seats in a Citroën C4?

Each C4 model comes with five seats and is perfect for quick trips into town or longer road trips.

There’s plenty of leg and headroom for the driver and passengers alike, so there’ll be no complaining long into the journey – thank goodness.

The outer rear seats of the C4 also have ISOFIX child car seat points. This means you can strap your littlest ones securely in their car seats with the minimum of fuss.
