Kia Sportage tax bands

How much is road tax on a Kia Sportage?

Cars that cost over £40,000 from brand-new will have to pay an extra £410 luxury car fee.
Sportages registered between 1 March 2001 and 31 March 2017 are taxed based on tailpipe emissions. The lower the emissions, the cheaper the tax will be.
Kia Sportage petrol road tax
The standard rate for Kia Sportage petrol road tax (from the second year after registering) is £190 a year. This is for models registered after 1 April 2017.
If you choose a Sportage model that costs over £40,000 when brand new, you’ll need to consider the additional £410 luxury car fee.
This is added onto the standard rate, making road tax £600 a year.
Kia Sportage diesel road tax
The standard rate for Kia Sportage diesel road tax is also £190 a year for models coming after 1 April 2017.
Again, you’ve got that luxury car fee. So, a diesel Sportage worth over £40,000 new would also cost £600 to tax.
Older models from before 2017 will likely come in at different price points annually as well.
Kia Sportage hybrid road tax
Hybrid cars from after 1 April 2017 get a nice little £10 discount, so the standard rate for hybrid Sportage road tax will be £180 per year.
However, some Sportage hybrids take you over the £40,000 mark and will mean you’ll need to pay the extra luxury car tax.
Kia Sportage road tax for models registered before 2017
Kia Sportage models from before 1 April 2017 are taxed on a different system. They instead look at the emissions of the car and fit into bands based on CO2 tailpipe emissions.
