Renault Captur vs. Nissan Juke: styling
When the Nissan Juke was introduced in 2010, it stopped the SUV world in its tracks. With its large V-shaped grille and bulging headlights, it offered a quirky look slightly reminiscent of a frog.
It was divisive at the time but still sold like hotcakes. While newer models have toned down the styling a touch, it’s still unique and as popular as ever.
The Renault Captur on the other hand, has a smoother design that takes styling cues from other stylish Renaults such as the Clio and Scenic.
Its overall look clearly draws from the Clio, as the Captur looks nice and compact but with the added allure of a hatchback on stilts (and we mean that in a good way).
Renault Captur vs. Nissan Juke: what are they like to drive?
Get behind the wheel of either car and it’s broadly the same at first – a high seating position and a good view over the road ahead – but there are some distinct differences worth knowing.
The Captur isn't a hybrid as standard. But if you go for an E-Tech model, you get a smooth 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a small electric motor and battery, which Renault claims will save as much as 20% on fuel.
The hybrid Captur is also lovely to drive around town thanks to that smooth powertrain.
The Juke, on the other hand, comes with either a 1.0-litre petrol engine as standard with either a manual or automatic gearbox, and a 1.6-litre hybrid setup that’s automatic-only.
This also makes the Nissan great to live with around town, and it’s nice and stable at motorway speeds as well.
Renault Captur vs. Nissan Juke: interior and technology
We wouldn’t call either interior luxurious, but for the price, you can’t go wrong. They have all the tech you need but without the worry of scuffing your expensive white leather seats.
If you’ve driven or been in its bigger sibling, the Qashqai, you’ll be right at home in the Nissan Juke. It has the same 12.3-inch infotainment screen that runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – plus, the layout is nice and logical with some welcome physical buttons.
The Captur, similar to the Clio, features a grown-up interior with a portrait 9.3-inch central screen and again has lots of physical dials that are tactile and easy to use on the move.
Renault Captur vs. Nissan Juke: safety and reliability
When it comes to safety, the Renault Captur scored four out of five stars in 2024. The Juke was last tested in 2019, when the rules were less strict, and got a full five stars.
As for reliability, both Renault and Nissan are dependable brands that have been building strong cars for years, and the Captur and Juke are no different.
Warranty is one area the Renault wins, thanks to a strong five-year/100,000-mile cover compared to the Nissan’s industry-standard three years/60,000 miles.
Renault Captur vs. Nissan Juke: boot space and practicality
The Captur has another one up on the Juke with a boot space trick up its sleeve – a 99-litre trick. When the rear seats are slid back, you get 444 litres, but slide them forward and the space grows to 536 litres. Then, fold the rear seats and this grows to 1,334 litres.
The Juke’s boot is a bit smaller at 422 litres (354 for the hybrid), growing to 1,189 litres when the rear seats are folded, which is pretty standard for this size of car.
Renault Captur vs. Nissan Juke: dimensions
Renault Captur (2024)
Length: 4,239mm
Width: 1,797mm
Height: 1,575mm
Boot space: 444 litres (1,334 litres with the rear seats folded)
