OMODA models UK – a full breakdown
More and more OMODA models are hitting UK roads, with bold and distinctive styling and a clear brand theme that makes them stand out against other family crossovers.
Part of the Chery group, OMODA is the affordable stylish one, while its sister company JAECOO offers more rugged-looking SUVs.
What are the OMODA car models you can buy, and where do they fit into your life?
OMODA model lineup
OMODA is still quite a new brand to the UK, so there are only a few OMODA models you can buy. Still, they cover most key areas under the SUV umbrella, so most buyers are well catered for.
OMODA 5
)
Currently the smallest crossover OMODA sells, the OMODA 5 has a 380-litre boot, space for five and a choice of two well-equipped trim levels.
It’s available with a choice of petrol andhybrid powertrains.
OMODA E5
)
With an identical silhouette but slightly different styling (including a more aerodynamic front end and grille area), this is the electric version of the ‘5’.
You get all the same practicality, including a 380-litre boot, plus some extra storage under the bonnet.
OMODA 7
)
The next size up is the OMODA 7, which has a much bigger 639-litre boot and more rear-passenger space.
Its cabin also feels more premium, with a tablet-style touchscreen and a separate display behind the wheel.
OMODA 9
)
OMODA’s philosophy with its flagship SUV is ‘all or nothing’. It’s a top-spec-only SUV with all the bells and whistles.
Apart from all that tech, you also get a 449hp plug-in hybrid setup that’ll get you to 62mph in 4.9 seconds.
OMODA powertrain options
)
Petrol
OMODA’s petrol engine is a 147hp 1.6-litre turbocharged one, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It’s available in the OMODA 5 and OMODA 7, and does up to 31mpg.
Hybrid
Badged SHS-H, this is OMODA’s self-charging hybrid. It uses a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.83kWh battery, and claims 53mpg (or a 650-mile range).
PHEV
Plug-in hybrid powertrains are offered on the OMODA 7 and OMODA 9, both paired with a 1.5-litre petrol engine offering 700+ miles of total range.
The ‘7’ gets an 18.3kWh battery (53 electric miles) and the ‘9’ gets a bigger 34kWh battery (93 electric miles).
Electric
At the moment, OMODA’s only electric car is the E5. It’ll do a claimed 267 miles between charges, and uses a 61kWh battery to drive the 211hp motor.
What’s the best OMODA model?
)
Budget-friendly option – the petrol OMODA 5 is cheapest to buy, but the hybrid OMODA 5 SHS-H will be cheaper to run. Whichever you pick, sticking to base ‘Knight’ spec is a good idea, as it’s already well-equipped
Luxurious trim – top-spec ‘Noble’ is good on any car, but you get more from an OMODA 7 or OMODA 9 than you do a ‘5’
Performance variant – 449hp, triple motors, 0-62 in 4.9 seconds… the OMODA 9 SHS is the one to get
Efficient PHEV version – consider the OMODA 7 SHS, which is lighter and more efficient than the ‘9’
